The crew of our ship needs a Banjo. We have been listening to Bluegrass bootlegs for months now and we are prepared to take it to the next level. To do this, we will need a banjo.

If anyone wishes to donate a banjo to a good bunch of folks let me know.

ps: we also need a glass or a steel guitar-slide as well....

I'm afraid I have non of the above, but suggest that you add some kind of recording apparatus to the list, if you don't have it already. wink
witnit:
Something David Rawlings said at a concert I went to (as Gillian Welch was tuning her banjo):

What's the difference between a banjo and an onion?

Nobody cries when you cut up a banjo.

Bluegrass kicks arse.

I'm getting pretty tired of Cape Town. I'm hoping that we head off for Europe soon. Berthing up in the Netherlands and working on the ship up there sounds like a much better plan than what we've got going on here.

This is me hoping that I'm not here in two months.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! smile

Vom Fass are the ones who put their drink in to exotically shaped bottles, such as that stiletto. That one obviously appeals more to women, but there are other nice ones that would appeal to men. The contents aren't bad either. wink

Thank you for the compliment. kiss

Spent the last week away from the ship, wandering around South Africa by foot w/ backpack. Walked from Cape Town to Cape Point - by way of Table Mountain, the Valley of the Red Gods, Hout Bay, Kommetje (sp?), Scarborough, and finally the Cape Point Nature Preserve (with a whole lot of cool places whose names I don't know/didn't get/dont' remember in between)

Took just...

Hey there! Cape Town is such a beautiful place. My whole family moved down there from Johannesburg in the last 15 years. Only my Dad and I left in Joburg still. And my in-laws mad wish they would also move away - but not to Cape Town else I cannot go and visit my sister ...

Glad you had an unforgettable experience! wink
qob:
haha, that's actually what I was wondering also, im not sure how naked asses sell cars... whatever

Cool that you made that walk to Cape Point, I would love to do it too. Just spoke to a guy today who is partly responsible for opening the whole route, it is apparently quite a new track.Do you actually need a guide to do it?

Sorry I still havent phoned about the visit on the boat,it's just been super hectic at work and otherwise..I still wanna visit there!

Have a good weekend smile

At 6am the docks come alive. What had been still all night - with only the Chinese fisherman - longliners, shark-finners and driftnetters - wandering from their ships at random intervals to make quiet phonecalls back to their homes - suddenly begins to move with the various specialists coming in for another day's work.

Refrigeration specialists, Welders, Linesmen, Security Guards, Yeoman, Deckhands and Able-Bodied Seaman...

Still being detained by the South African gov't.

Sea Shepherd is being investigated by The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Transportation Authority for our alleged ramming of a ship from the Japanese Whaling Fleet on January 9th. Who knows what will come of such investigations?

In the meantime, we're down to a crew of about ten aboard the Farley Mowat and looking for...

The grind of my life consists of Going to school, taking photographs and working with kids. It doesn't seem all that bad, but it can get very hectic and make for very long days.

I smoke good ol' canadian cigarettes, DuMaurier is the brand for me. Doesn't it suck seeing someone smoking a cigarette and then all you want is one, but don't have one. Makes me crazy.

60lbs in less than six months.

That's how much weight I've lost working on the Farley Mowat. I'm in CapeTown, South Africa at the moment; our vessel is being detained by the South African government apparantly for ramming one of the illegal Japanese Whaling vessels down in the Antarctic Wildlife Sanctuary.

peace for now,
P.
