I'm back... everyone can exhale now.
Finishing up my paper tonight on Marx and Mannheim. 24 pages so far, would like to have 6 more done by the time I crash. Its been a blast but I really am kind of sick of it at this point. As always though, it'll be posted on here so if anyone has any trouble sleeping, or feels so inclined to point out any mistakes, the opportunity is always open.
Looking forward to going to DC this weekend to photograph the ANSWER convergence up there. Got Chomsky in Gainesville on Tuesday this week, (my birthday) Start some prelim. research on Needle Exchange Programs around Wednesday after discussing the reaction to my current paper... but still excited about that.
shit..
now that I think about it, I'm just looking forward to hopping on that bus this weekend and sitting down with a book all the way to D.C. No notecards, no impending paper, no hassles... that will be really fuckin' cool. I haven't had a weekend free in almost a month.
Amusing Ourselves to Death and Negotiations are the two books on the short-list to D.C. If anyone has read either of these, I'd be more than willing to hear what you think before then.
(or after, I guess...=)
What else? Been mulling the idea around of cashing in the vacation days I get from the job next year towards going to Africa, or South America or wherethehellever will take me and trying to shift jobs into doing something fundamentally of more material importance. Been thinking of USAID or some UN or Red Cross project anywhere at all... just looking to hook up with a contact and see if they need any volunteers. I'm a fairly resourceful guy... hopefully if I liked it I'd be able to just not come back. It's just something I'm thinking about... no activity has occurred yet or anything...
Ok.. that's it. I'm done writing on here... I must return to the regularly scheduled tedium. Enjoy.
