i've studied a wee bit of linguistics, but english wasn't my focus in college. i teach english by chance, and because i am a native speaker with a university degree ( those are the only qualifications here...)
you like documentaries... have you seen fast cheap and out of control? one of my favs. by the same guy who did vernon, florida which is bascially about a town not to far from my neck of the woods back home...

Ok.. I'm pissed.

550 people in my town went to work at Tyson Foods(where chicken comes from) today and were told that they no longer had jobs. The remaining 450 were told that they were going to be "eliminated" as of Jan 31st. Merry Christmas... thanks for the hard work.

i'm in the good ole ROK teaching english, of course. easy slacker job, about to finish my second year.

Two years ago tonight, the best friend i ever had was shot in the chest at point-blank range with a .357 caliber bullet, had his guts blown out the back of his chest and he was dead before the back of his head ever hit the floor.
