I'm gonna run briefly through the stuff in-between now and my last update, although I'll go back and elaborate on THE BEST GIG EVER some time over the weekend.

Being home hasn't seen me up to much really. Seen a few old friends, saw Kaz a couple of times before she went to the States for a month (Gonna be some serious making-up of time when she gets back, I've only seen her a couple of times in, like, 4 months!), been to a few Quarantines and Agincourt's which have been lovely. Lizie and I also DJ'ed a couple of weeks back and we totally rocked. It was such a blast as, this being our second run, we were much more comfortable. Well, I was; the bruises on Lizie's hips suggest otherwise for her... Lizie did a fantastic job of setting up the track order, as well as convincing Dave to let us play more than the allotted time. I'll post a playlist as soon as I get it off Lizie. Because it was a theme night (Christmas/beach, randomly) the place was busy right from the start, and we had quite a few people dancing throughout the night, including resident SG Disco! She asked me to play some Peaches, but alas we just aren't request DJs when we're temping...

On a more mature front I attended a grad fair in late June. It's the largest in the UK, took place in London and, best of all, was free! I donned my suit and tie (shoes and shirt too, no worries) and, despite a mix-up with pre-registration, the day was a success. Attended lectures about interview technique and career focus, as well as seminars by the BBC, Saatchi and Saatchi, and Abercrombie & Fitch. All very interesting, and as a result I've been looking into graduate schemes and work placements in both journalism and advertising, as both seem quite flexible and interesting. It's early days yet. I also have an interview tomorrow for a magazine journalism course through NoSweat, so hopefully that will go well. It's more for the experience though really, as the cost and the full-time nature of the course means a hefty commitment at this early stage. I may ask to defer entry until October and try and get some work experience or income going before I get in too deep. I'll keep you posted.

Received some stuff I'd ordered from Amazon today as well, mainly my new shaver (my last was about 4 years old) and my slinky new Canon IXUS D-60 camera which I adore already. Expects pics of random crap/drunk people/hands soon enough.

Hmm, what else. Nothing really. Still playing way too many computer games, mainly Oblivion. It's so engrossing, and very pretty. Haven't renewed my WoW account, there seems little point since I was taken off raid status. Realised I was still paying for EVE Online so I've fired that back up, but not sure yet how long it will hold my attention. Also bought Resident Evil 4, but not too far into that either. So many games, so little time.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment, really. As Lizie said to me the other week, it's a kind of mood where you don't want to make decisions, because some of them are too big and have Consequences. I can't wait for mum to get back from Scotland and help me work through this, she's very good at reassuring me and helping me find a starting point.

Saw the new Jet Li film (Fearless), apparently his last ever martial arts one. Despite sharing producers with Hero, it lacked that film's visual elegance. The setting and cinematography were still excellent of course, but there was no artistic use of colour, instead trading it for a more brutal approach. This was especially true in the fight scenes, likely due to Matrix fight scene co-ordinator Yuen Wo Ping's involvement. Despite a few curious choices in storytelling, the film is good and of course the martial arts scenes are superb. Well worth seeing.

Also, lastly, I got my degree results. It was a 2:2. I'd been hoping for a 2:1, so of course I'm disappointed. If one thing in particular let me down it was that large raft of marks I dropped across several subjects at the end of last year due to handing essays in late. If I'd not done that, perhaps done some exams instead, it might have worked out better. But I do not seek to make excuses. It was my own efforts (or lack thereof) that brought this outcome, and now I'll have to work to demonstrate that I could have done better, through other avenues.

Signing off.
