Over the years i have had many different friendship groups. Being the odd one out at school i quickly grew out of my school friends after graduation bar a couple of boys who i still catch up for drinks with.

I have had 4 best friends in my lifetime.

One who ended up turning my friends on me because i decided to make friends with the "less popular" people and turned into being the most popular girl to being bullied. (this girl tried to be friends later on in the years which i politely declined).

One was this girl who ended up using me and it only took me a few years (and my mum) to help me realise this.

One whom i lost contact due to her moving house and me losing my phone and her numbers. Finally ended up getting her number with her telling me she did not want to be friends. She had my number and my address the entire time.

My best friend - she has moved overseas and most likely wont come back. I miss her dearly.

There are different types of friends/friendships to me:

Some are there to make you laugh
Others to be a shoulder to cry on
Some provide wisdom and advice
Some come and go but leave an impact on your heart
Some wander in and out of your life but time never changes anything between you
Some are there every day
Some who are selfless and whom give even when they are the ones who need to be taken care of
Some who will stand by your side no matter what, even though everyone else may have turned their backs

I have learnt over the years that i cannot count on anyone but myself. I am thankful for all the friendships i have had, those which have been short and long lived. They have all changed me and made me the person i am today.
