Stephen Cobert has become the Tucker Carleson of the left wing. Whereas initially his satirical interviews were amusing parodies, now they've just become insulting, both to the guest and the viewer. The punchline is the same with every interviewee and what he's effectively doing is hosting relevant contemporary political figures like Ralph Nader on his show only to force them to spend four out of the five short minutes defending themselves from inane accusations and misrepresentations of their positions. I know it's supposed to be funny but he's belittling their importance, their message and their potential contributions for a quick laugh which wore thin long ago. The first ten times he played the role of the obnoxious right winger it was funny, however, it's gone beyond tiresome and repetitive. Maybe if he gave them a minute edgewise to express themselves it wouldn't be so bad but he's badgering them consistently, all for the sake of a relatively cheap joke. Don't get me wrong, he can be amusing and sometimes he's better than other times but I honestly feel that it's far too often, I want to kick him in the groin. mad
The last few nights I've had horrible nightmares so I'm a little tense before bed. Don't sweat the rant, I was just annoyed with his treatment of Nader. tongue
