Television can be so depressing. It so common in american politics and popular culture for conservative republicans to pose as democrats, based simply on the claim that they voted for the democratic party, when in reality their barely masked right-wing rhetoric easily impacts more than the single vote. It's like the right wing decided to use covert political tactics and installed spies in influential mediums, something neither far-fetched nor ineffective. What's amazing about it is the seeming inability of those on the left to call them out when given the forum to do so. I'll be watching real time or the daily show, though not so much recently, since j.s. grew a backbone, and wonder why rolling one's eyes is enough. As though they had an obligation to be anything more than merely civil, as though being cordial were important when faced with the enemy misrepresenting you and your policies. I want to reach through the screen and ring the host of the show by the neck and scream, "Do your job, represent your base viewers!". Granted John Stewart has been quite sharp lately, but after his appearance on crossfire I half-hoped his crusade against the propaganda machine would escalate where in reality it's pretty much fizzled. Though I suppose I am rather fond of his bush impression.
