Hello everyone. I hope you are all well. I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I lost a very close friend of mine this past Sunday. His name was Eric Guy and you may have seen the story of his tragic death on the news. For those of you who did not here are some of the details. While Eric, his finance Amy and their 2 young children Kylie 2 and Cadon 19mo. and the family dog were boating on Lake Monroe their 16ft boat began to take on water. Unable to pump out the water the boat capsized in the very choppy waters sending the entire family into the lake. Only the children were wearing life vests. Upon surfacing Eric was able to quickly find Kylie and Amy but Cadon was no where to be seen. He gave Kylie to Amy and began the extremely difficult task of trying to locate his young son in the murky waters. Diving over and over again he finally found that Cadon was trapped under the boat. Mercifully, his life vest had floated him under the boat into an air pocket. Eric was able to dive under and pull him from under the boat and bring him to the surface. While Eric was doing this Amy had managed to get the attention of some other passing boaters who came to their rescue. These wonderful people assisted Amy, Kylie, and the dog into their boat. When Eric came up with Cadon he handed him to the man on the boat but when he turned around to help Eric out of the water the last thing he saw was Eric sinking to the bottom with his hand outstretched toward the surface. Eric's body was recovered at 10:27am on Monday morning while myself and many other friends and his family waited praying for the best at the waters edge. This man gave his life to save his family. He is a hero in every sense of the word. He was a loving and kind father, a tender, compassionate companion, and a true and loyal friend. No one who knew him EVER had a bad word to say about him. The sorrow that myself and all who knew him feel in our hearts is unbelieveable. Eric was the sole provider for his 2 children, his stepdaughter and Amy. A memorial trust has been set up to help his family and I beg you all to PLEASE contribute whatever you can(no matter how small) to this cause. If you are interested in making a donation please leave a comment or message me for the information. If you don't wish to go through the trust I will be more than happy to take anything(money, food, childrens clothes, etc....) directly to the family. Please I urge you to help me honor the memory of this amazing man by helping provide for the family he died to save.
