So I got one of those Myspace bulletins that said name 6 bands that you'd want to see on one bill in one night.
So I figured I'd expound on it a little more here, and you folks can give me yours:
1. The Clash- for obvious reasons. probably the one band I regret never getting to see. They truly are the only band that ever mattered. They were actually talking about getting together for a tour of the US before Joe Strummer died but someone had immigration issues and it went tits up.
2. Faith No More- I saw them a few times and I kind of miss their frenetic live shows and odd covers. I could go see Fantomas or any of the other 43 bands Mike Patton has going on, but it's just not the same.
3. Minor Threat- damn. it'll never happen because I don't think anyone can have as much anger and sarcasm in them for that long. well maybe, but I'm sure even Ian has become jaded by his er... jadedness(?)
4. Led Zeppelin- Isn't the same without Bonzo no matter who is behind the kit, and he's the main reason I'd want to see them. That and they could just skip across musical styles like a stone across water.
5. Stevie Wonder- Probably the only one I'll ever have a chance of seeing. Stevie's later stuff tended to lean towards sap, but songs like "I Wish" and "Superstitious" just reach down and grab something inside me.
6. Johnny Cash- What can you say about a man who's music and fanbase connected with many different generations. He had the grace to show his pain, and the humor to laugh in spite of it. To be able to share that live would've have been something to treasure.
