We buried my mom today.
I realized a couple of things about myself while I was sitting in church.
I'm sad that she's not going to be here anymore, but I can be ok without her because she brought me up that way.
I'm thinking about how she and I used to make smartass remarks to each other all the time. She was ridiculously witty. She made me laugh as much as I tried to make her laugh.
I also know that if I start blubberin', she'll give me a cosmic smack across the head and say "cut the shit!"
I was feeling during the service that I was missing something, and I thought it was religion, but I don't think that's it. I'll figure it out one of these days, but I'm not going to make stabs in the dark.
I'm glad I got to tell her I love her before she passed.
