Ok so I'm not entirely sure why this joke just popped into my head (it's not very Christmas-y) but I remember reading it for the first time in - I think- The Killing Joke which is a Batman graphic novel, and laughing out loud as The Joker tells it to Batman in one scene. My sense of humor ventures into pretty dark territory at times and so I found this one rather amusing.
Anyway here it is.. although certainly not verbatim as I can't remember it that well and it's probably gonna be significantly embellished by me (I like words... what can I say 😉)
So...
Two inmates from the insane asylum are trying to escape in the dead of night... they manage to reach the asylum rooftop, which looks onto another building outside of the perimeter fence which they could make good their escape from if they got over to it. The thing is, it's an 8ft gap to the other building with a 50ft drop below. One of the inmates starts freaking out because they're so close but could never make the jump... but the other inmate calmly says he has a plan and pulls out a flashlight. He says to his buddy "don't worry we're gonna get across! I'll turn on the flashlight, point it at the other building and then all you have to do is walk across the beam and you're free!!" The nervous inmate thinks for a second and then looks with disbelief at his buddy holding the flashlight and says "That's ridiculous!! How can I trust that when I'm walking across the flashlight beam, you won't turn the damn thing off!?!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hehe! Well it works for me anyway. And indeed an apt joke for The Joker to be recounting...
