I did something I normally don't do...I went to the store on black Friday...and it was not too bad...I think due to where I went...a craft store to get picture frames...I add some(2)pics of the pics I just hung in my living room...

anyway on with the meat of the update:

Wal-Mart is not the evil empire... eeek

Hear me out before you judge that statement...

Wal-Mart is just a manifestation of our(Americans and increasingly other nationalities that want to be like us) values...

What does Wal-Mart say about our values:

1. We want to pay as little as possible for the goods that we buy...

2. We want uniformity...one Wal-Mart in Nebraska is the same layout as the one here in MD

3. we want convenience...what mom and pop store is open at 1am when you really need a new board game to play...b/c you are tired of the current game

4. We ARE willing to over look all the little things Wal-Mart does to give us what we want ... like child labor and a lot of the other not so nice things the big wigs at Wal-Mart do...

How can I make a statement like "We want"...plain and simple...Wal-Mart is Successful...numbers don't lie...If you can make a statement to the effect of "none of my friends shop at Wal-Mart"...then I say to you that you live in a bubble(a protected environment not representative of the statistically average American lifestyle)

It is we who are evil(or at least not so good) not Wal-Mart...think about it...

If you think I'm wrong on this please let me know...you will not hurt my feelings...

I understand the points you are trying to make, I just am finding myself at a place in my life where I want to live as true to my beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. Thus I will NOT shop at Walmart. They make musicians edit their music so that it will be nice and calm for the Walmart shoppers. They treat their employees like crap, withholding hours so that they cannot receive benefits. I will take the inconvenince of shopping the locals as much as possible. I will shop at Target, as they have not been shown to participate in the rampant human rights violations that Walmart is so famous for. I just believe that giving up is not the way I want to go. If we all gave up on holding true to what we believe in even when the going gets rough, then this world would be screwed.

Someone's gotta sacrifice. I am fine with it being me. Bring on the inconvenience and the clear conscience. smile
