lets see if i can do it again.
i walked thru the playground next to my house this morning on the way to my free cup of coffee from starbucks. playground was full of cute little screaming children i couldnt hear thanks to my ipod, so it was just cute children who sounded like axl rose (odd before caffeine has taken effect). on the way back, looking at them, i realized there were about 8 of them i wanted to put in my pocket. [sidenote: i refer to incredibly cute children as pocketkids. for instance, little poppa, spawn of darth hair (aka bigpoppa99), is most definitely a pocketkid. at disney land while waiting for 45 mins on the finding nemo line, i opened up my purse and tried to persuade a kid to jump in. jon thought this was hilarious; he was high] on with the show.

...there were eight of them i wanted to put in my pocket and take home and line up like culturally diverse hummel figurines, the lesser-known dirty nyc kids of summer series. for those who dont know, i collect statuettes, but generally not hummels as they freak me the fuck out sometimes.

on with the show, again: there was one kid, doomed never to be immortalized in hummeldom (partially because m.i. hummel's been dead for some time now, partially because he's mixed race). a beautiful little boy, must've been about 3, racing (himself?) around the fountain. this would be SO much easier to explain and SO much funnier to you if you could see the layout of the fountain- i tried, oh i tried to get you one. anyway, the kid's running around one of the sprinkler heads, then around the rest of the fountain, then the one head, like he's on some serious mission. it was wonderful. i wanted to wrap him up in a towel and squeeze him. made me want to babysit again, and trust me. it takes a lot to pull that out of me. worse, the kid reminded me of jon. and... not going there. too early in the morning. part of me wanted to bring that kid home and adore him, part of me wanted to join him running around. maybe next summer i'll work at a daycare/ daycamp program somewhere. that'd be nice. this is the first time the sleeve i'm planning on getting by the end of the summer might not be such a good idea. damn.
hungry. grapefruit time- back to the store with me.
