So today I had to teach a class on safety to an entire air squadron. That would have been fine if I was the one that was going to put the presentation together and make the power point presentation myself but I had to use one that our civilian nurse put together. I'm not going to say that she didn't know what she was doing but when it comes to putting a presentation together for sailors it's best to make it into something that a 5 year old would not only understand but not get bored with.
The material was nothing less then dry and boring, and it covered things that had nothing to with half of what it needed to. It was put together with out much thought and kept refering to things that belonged in a guide to proper parenting. I stayed up till about 2 this morning redoing the whole thing so that it at least looked somewhat military.
Honestly what do alternative recipies have to do with safety out on the flight line, or a sailors well being while they're off duty? There must have been about 10 line items about things to do to keep your child either from getting sunburned, stung or bitten by an insect, or from drowning in a pool.
There weren't any pretty pictures that shows what happens to someone that stands out on the flight line all day with out protection from the sun, nothing about putting ones private bits where they shouldn't be with out a wrapper
No drinking related casualties from either the heat or by getting behind the wheel.
Nothing that even mentioned one stupid sailor trick. The type was so small on the slides I would have trouble reading them from in front of the projector screen. I really had my work cut out for me.
I was told that it would start at 9 so I got there at 8:15 to make sure that I had everything I needed set up for the class and people didn't start to show up till around 9:15.
I had to wait for 3 officers to get there listen to me speak time done and by then everyone was half asleep. YAY!
Oh well fuck it I hope that they will have the common sense to know better then to not drink enough fluids or handle rattle snakes. (some topics were pretty lame I'll admit but these are sailors and they need to be reminded of basic common sense things)
When I finally got back to the clinic the doc who was getting the office that I have been renovationg was there and insisted that I change everything around in the office again, and that it needed to be done today, then went to try to find a mini fridge that he could steal out of another office. He had the gall to try to get me to steal MY fridge that is used to store vaccines to put under his desk.
Fuckass! and then since he has a master key started to point out all these things that he needed in his office out of my supply storage including the laptop that runs a $50,000 piece of equipment that I just broght back the day before. And the brand new color printer that's about a $3000 unit used for reproducing digitally captured images from said piece of equipment. I actually had to go back to his old office to make sure that he hadn't walked out with anything that wasn't bolted down, he even went as far as picking up a bunch of new stuff that I got to say that he needed it so that he could just turn around and sell it on Ebay!
Sure it's OK to do that with the digital voice recorder a drug rep hands out but not stuff that has been purchased out of my budget.
The ride home was a nice cool 115 in the shade so I was dead by the time I got home and passed out on the couch almost immediatly after I got home. I woke up sore as hell for some reason and still exhausted, I'm going to lay the blame on a former Mr. San Diego for that (not the easiest workout partner to try to keep up with on the weights) We did arms shoulders and back on Wednesday and today I'm feeling it just a little bit (this is a lie I'm in agony when it comes to even lifting or trying to straighten my arms)
Tomorrow, I don't know but one thing for sure I'm going to be getting to work of my own accord my ride this morning caused me to be 30 minutes late to work.
Why thank you Mr. Blue Falcon.. (buddy fucker) I think that I'm going to take it easy tonight and just pop in a DVD or something and lay under the AC vent.

That or the old P-38 Lightning or the A-10 Warthog (2 engines are better than 1)
Hey Pete, sorry to hear that everyone sucks so much where you work. I guess I can't really complain about the heat (in light of your situation). Who knows, maybe one day you'll be a greedy little ( I mean great) physician too???
Hope all is well, and have a happy 4th. Ooh yea! (I'm not feeling particularly patriotic this year...)
Then again, there's probably going to be a ton of fireworks...
On second thought, maybe not. Speaking of fire there was one near Dad's house by the freeway yesterday (reaching Temecula Creek Inn)
