US troop withdrawl from Iraq is inevitable.... the question is when? I'm starting to get a little antsy about this whole thing. I don't see it happening in the next year that's for sure. Our clinic was just told that we're going to have to supply 11 corpsmen for deployment, all of them ranking petty officer 3rd class and below. I fit that description all to well, and I've got tactical training. The only good thing I have going for me is that they're asking that the corpsmen that they take have till May of 07 left in the Navy. I can get out as early as December if I want to, and I'm not ready to get out yet. I have yet to extend my contract or reenlist, but I'm going to sit on my hands and say nothing till this blows over. Sure the money would be good, 10 - 11 months tax free with both sea pay and hazardous duty pay. If I wanted I could get put on that list pretty easily but that would screw up my future plans big time. I guess I'll just wait and see how things turn out, at the very least our clinic will be short 11 more bodies, and we're already short 7.
