i forgot to mention two books -

promethea comics by alan moore. these are goddamn great.

breakfast of champions - vonnegut - i'd heard that this was his best book many times but i'd always thought i'd read it - oddly, i'd read a lot of vonnegut before i'd even noticed him - but i just listened to it on cd - and damn - i'd definitely never heard it before, and it was fucking spectacular.

it's one of those discouraging books - it's hard to find a reason to write after that - he said it all.
