much as i'd love to respond to comments, i'm not going to. these computers are like being back in the nineties, when surfing still a chore.
on the home stretch, but it takes three days to get out of thailand, morning bus then down time then night train then down time then flight the next morning. and i'm still somehow two weeks from getting back to the farm.
thailand makes me just-about, just-nearly regret settling down in the states. their building codes for one thing- there aren't any. in the neighboorhood of punpun (a searchable natural building community, too much trouble to find now), most structures were awesome split-roof structures put together almost entirely with round-pole eucalyptus imported from australia, farily cheaply. roundpole is so beautifull. almost all small diameter, with intuitive crossbracing, etc.
i have a college degree in building with mud. but i'm such a technophile i'm a bit oddball in both dirty EF circles and geekdom. but i have an inspiration on how to bring the two together - compile a creative commons manual on building with mud. maybe it's been done, like i've said, i refuse to search till i get home.
something to earn some serious whuffie.

woodbury's where the commune is-- it's 30 miles east of murfreesboro.
as for thailand, i'm sure they technically have building codes, too-- at least in the cities. i'm sure they're just not enforced-- even if they are sometimes, it's not like they really discourage bribery there... but yeah. no county building inspectors. no additional codes.
the land in cali seems a little fishy-- i've never heard of anything so cheap there either.. just be sure to warn her about the usual things-- water rights, easements, land use/zoning..
