my name is piracy and i'm an awareness addict.
i've just realized that with caffiene and nicotine, that's what i'm looking for, an extra bit of focus, intensity, clarity. whereas mostly what i get is distraction, of goinng through the steps of making a presspot and the ritual of drinking.
certainly with pot, i just like the phase change, the perspective shift. and somehow my perspective, at least initially, is more idealist, perfectionist, neat-freak.
psychadelics, i used to hope for some divine wisdom or guidance, some clue about how to get through the veil, or the day.
recently, i met a wierdo mystic mayan astrologer and semanticist, who strongly discouraged the words no, not, don't, can't, know. i thought he was full of crap until once in conversation he mentioned that no led to argument, and argument leads to insanity.
which is exactly what i experienced in my last mushroom trip. the voice that calls itself reasonable doubt, but is really jjust negation.i probably wouldn't have bothered to care, except that i also realized i've pretty much been raisiing my boy on "no," he's intensely exploratory, so he's always into something he shouldn't be.
so i deleted no's + n't's from my speech with him. after a while it's pretty calming to say stop instead of don't, or to tell him to close the drawer instead of you can't get in there, or that's dangerous instead of just no.
i really don't want him to turn out like me.

Air-conditioning is such a fucking Yankee sinnovation.

That's a fascinating notion. Omit "no", and you change the implications completely. I like it.
