i don't know if you guys have heard about this, maybe you did.....anyways i just heard this today and it made me very sad.... on july 5 the king and queen of tonga were killed in cali by a teenaged driver.......which means the last monarch is lost....( true i did make a mistake, it wasn't the king and queen, it was the prince and princess, but i do think the with there deaths the monarch is lost or at least near its end. if you look into the family history you'll see that King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV is 85 years old, and has been put under doctors care. his wife Queen Salote passed away in 1965. so that leaves his three sons and one daughter. the Crown Prince Tupouto, is a child in his 50's, unmarried and prefers western life instead of his polynesian roots, when his father was asked if he would be a good king, his father answered with a simple, maybe. the second soon was disowned for marrying against his fathers will, so he's out which leaves the prince i was talking about, which was loved by the people and had plans to move tongo forward, but with the event's of july 5th that will not happen. so that leaves Princess Pilolevu as the only one with the brains to rule, which from what was reported she has stepped up to see her brothers plans in action.....but now she needs to find a husband of tonga blood that will get father's approval, which i'm not sure if she has or not, nothing i read reported it. and if tonga has changed as much as the hawaiian islands, well that could be pretty hard....in my seven years on oahu i haven't meet anyone even close to half of island blood..) so depending the way you look at it, the pacific monarch is gone or it is on it's last leg slowly leaving this world forever. whatever happens to them i only wish Princess PIlolevu the best and fear that there culture will not be put on displayed in parks to foreigners, like so many cultures have. i am sorry my first post was wrong, i hope the corrections i've made will help you see the point i was making.
