Ankle isn't broken, just horribly sprained..

I have this brace on it that some marketing jackass had a field day with..they combined "sprain" and "splint" into "Sprint".

The mofo's gave me a device called Sprint to hobble around in.

Like rubbing salt into a wound, this.

Awww, that's too bad, but you're right about resting an injury, especially a bad sprain. As for laying off the whiskey... naw, let it flow. biggrin

Fuck.

No. Make that Fuck a double. On the rocks.

I went to photograph some trains after work today, which I could do in broad daylight because standing on the edge of the railyard is not trespassing. So I step into the grass to take some pics of this beaut that was rolling out..my foot goes in a hole, I hear/feel a crack!, and...

Do you believe in ghosts? I do..tonight, in the studio, the water kept turning on full blast. Not leaking, but the handle kept turning. They're tight handles, too.

Freaked me right out.

surreal
audra:
i 100% believe in ghosts! i lived in a house that was haunted by a little girl. i saw her ofetn, but she was completely harmless. i always wondered what happened to her though. frown so unfortunate. she moved stuff around, like things would move in air, but it was no big deal. creepy, though.

Ghosts? Naw, but I'll give you a definitive answer once I crawl out from under my bed because something scared the shit out of me. biggrin Thanks for the kind words about my journal entry. I read and watch whatever interests me, so yes, I read some "conservative" media, and I watch Fox News. But I hate the notion that media is "liberal" or "conservative." I think it's bullshit. Take 2000; if the media were "liberal" do you think Bush would have gotten off as easy as he did? I know Gore won the popular vote, but Bush killed him in the way he was covered. Early on many in the media made fun of Bush for his not knowing certain world leaders and his seeming overall stupidity, but after a while, they fawned all over him... because they smelled a winner. I think the media runs to whoever spins it the best. Now having said that, I'd be naive to think that everyone in the media is without bias, but I think overall it's become a crutch and an easy way for a politician to dismiss an arguement they don't like. "Well, you in the liberal media always say..." I was a newspaper reporter for 10+ years and a journalist for more than 15 years... and I never let anyone get away with calling me liberal or conservative. I prided myself on accuracy, fairness and objectivity (might not have always succeeded, but that's another story, LOL!). Funny story: I was interviewing a local politician about a partisan issue and he asked me what I thought about it. I told him I didn't have an opinion on it because that wouldn't be fair... yada yada yada. He laughed and said he knew I was fair, he had checked my voter registration and saw that I was a registered unaffiliated voter. The guy went to City Hall to check the voter registration of the reporters covering his party. That gave me pause. wink

I went kayaking on the Mississippi today, to make sure I've got all the necessary gear and expectations to take me through next weekend. I'll be kayaking 44 miles downstream as a benefit for the Friends of the Mississippi River.
If anyone would like to sponsor me, you can do so at the website. Email me for info. And this is by no means required...

I was just tooling around the site and searched for folks with "kayak" in their profile, not really expecting to find anyone. smile

If there was a canoe/kayak group, I would certainly join. I doubt there are a ton of members here with our hobby, but at least no one will be a lilly-dipper on the threads wink

I pretty much kayak solo too. My only reliable partner went and moved to Spain. There are some decent coastal paddles in southern California where I live, but the coast is so developed here . . . the best coastal kayaking in CA is in the northern part of the state. I've been out there just once, near Mendocino. There are awesome sea caves there.

i saw a fox today. i was standing on a bridge above the railyards, trying to get some juicy photos of rust and corrosion and nasty, and this foxy fox just trots out from the bushes.

foxes bounce. did you know that?

i whistled, and he looked right at me. we looked at each other for a few seconds, then he ran into a big...

I see wild life in the city all the time. all pretty close to my house. We have a family of raccoons that live somewhere nearby because they are always in my alley at 5 a.m. returning from their late night foraging. About a month ago a deer jumped over me while I was riding home from Darkjuans, beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Also seen beavers, many deer, one animal I couldnt identify but part of the weasal family I would guess and only once a fox. Little tiny thing, I guess I always thought they were a little bigger.

Of course I remember you. Hope to see you out at one of the events again soon. Unfortunately I havent gotten out much lately, partly because of the broken wrist, which I broke that night after we were all at the C.C. Club. Cant bike, so transportation options are reduced. mad Have fun with the kayaking. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Sweet! Thanks. How's your summer been? ooo aaa

Yes, CT born and bred. A reformed preppy. Skippered a Swift Boat and I'm the son of a mill work... sorry, just got done watching the Democratic Convention. wink I love the East Coast, though I've only driven through Delaware. My summer's been a bit frustrating because I'm currently unemployed. frown And, I prefer fall and winter to summer, but I've tried to stay busy, which mostly means hitting the gym and drinking beer (hmmmm, those two kinda cancel each other out, LOL!)

Walgreens was a trip today. They were understaffed, and the young man behind the counter was clearly competent, but nervous as hell that someone was going to take issue with the fact that he couldn't do everything at once. Reminded me of myself at work, on a constant basis..poor guy..

I just saw a great, though quite sobering, film. "Maria, Full of Grace" is the...

Whew. I thought I got a tan, but it was really only dirt. smile

For all you non-potters out there, woodfiring is a very high temperature process....

evening update:

This evening had the most dynamic cloud formations I've ever seen. A sudden storm rolled in, and after the rain there were orange puffy clouds in the west over greenish skies, transforming into hot pink clouds in the east over purple and blueblue sky, to the north twas a solid wall of black...

Raided the neighbor's raspberry patch today. I filled a gallon bucket in about twenty minutes. It's a regular free-for-all over there..my roomie made jam this weekend, there's been preserves and pies and ice cream and sorbet produced from that patch in the last three days..it's behind some rental unit, and it is my own private heaven. At least until the birds discover it.

So it...

I was just at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Liked it and found a new appreciation for Singer. Rothko is cool, but the best painting I ever saw in person was the van Eyck's "Arnolfini..." in London.
