Okay, so last night I was thinking; what makes an ideal partner? I have sorted my likes and dislikes into 4 categories; Required, Perks, Detriments, and Deal-breakers.
EDIT: I've added some new stuff, partially from other people's good ideas, and partly just from thinking about it more.
Required:
Good sense of humor
On the same maturity level as I am
At least as intelligent as I am
Decent hygiene
Some understanding of mental illness. Not a shrink or anything, just someone who can deal with the fact that I have psychiatric problems.
Educated, whether by formal means or otherwise
Okay with my vegetarianism
Perks:
A little older
More intelligent
Physically attractive
Excellent taste in music
Creative
Detriments
Really incredibly bad taste in music
Ultraconservative, politically
Excessively vanilla
More than occasional drug use (If it didn't give me huge problems, I'm sure I'd drink or smoke pot sometimes)
Celebrity worship
Dealbreakers
Homophobic
Commitment-phobic
Shallow
Excessive drug use (Basically defined as addiction)
Self-absorbed/vain
Disrespect for anyone who doesn't deserve it
Excessively clingy
Jealous
Affinity for scat (thanks Mouse)
General assholery not otherwise specified

i think the only thing on my list is good hygiene...
its not that i'm not picky or desperate but i can generally find something attractive about most women and can put up with a lot of bullshit ie: jealous, vain, ditzy and all that.
