Last night my cat fell about 12 feet from my loft. He didn't seem very phased by the whole event. However he did take down the orchid with him and the room was a mess at 4am.

Once I got everything settled again he came back up on the bed and laid down in the exact same spot. Squishy's not so bright I guess.

In other news, I had a great weekend. I'm feeling much better than I've felt in the last few months. Thank goodness...I need some good times.

They tell me that 12 feet is fine for a cat. Anything less than about 20 feet or more than 50 feet. On shorter falls, cats crouch and land on their feet. On longer falls, they spreadeagle and wind resistance slows them to about 25 mph and they land splayed without injury. Cats sometimes go out of 60th floor apartment windows and land just fine. It's those 3rd and 4th floor window falls, where they don't realize to spreadeagle until too late that kill cats. Unfortunately for humans, wind resistance only slows us to about 75 mph, at which speed the landing tends to suck.

My cat Betsy and SZ's cats have been feuding for nearly 9 months since we all moved in together. Not long ago, they wouldn't be on the same floor of the house without the fur flying. But today I woke up to Cappy sleeping by my head, Betsy by my knees, and Petta on the desk chair. It was the first time Betsy and another cat were on the bed together. smile

SZ missed it, as she's working 2 12-hr overnight shifts in a row. I saw her Monday before I left for work, not at all yesterday, 10 minutes today as I came home from work and she left, and I'll next see her Friday night when I get home. puke Yep, marital bliss.

Congrats on your new place and Happy Birthday! I'd forgotten we're only a week apart. I hope you had a fun day.

i think i need a squishy to keep me company right now, a not so bright cat is better than no cat at this point

oh and
glad to hear you're feeling better, you seem to have your head in the right place with pema (which i have not been so good at keeping up with since the move)

happy belated birthday (it's been a long while since i've been online, too much real life with the move and therapy and work and well, life)
