Damn, I really wish we'd found you guys but it looks like we went to the wrong end of the beach - and Brandy was a bit of a handful. Extreme comedy I tell you.
She and I slept a few hours and then got up and slouched over to Cafe Zen for brunch and then Malones for Caesars to take the bite out of her hangover. Not that I need much excuse for liquid love, apparently.
HEY!!! I'm SO glad you made it. That was wicked, we're just waking up now. We watched the sun come up with some scotch on the beach but we somehow split into 3 groups.
I seriously have to make that a more important part of my life. Tickets were only like $35, the show pretty much started at 8:00 with Camper Van Beethoven, who I was really looking forward to seeing. I was a fan of theirs SO long ago.. it wrapped up with the last song from Modest Mouse at like 10:45 and... Read More
Unfortunately, my day off tomorrow was veto'd. So I'll have to take it easy and be a good boy.... getting home before curfew and tucking myself in with a cup of hot cocoa.
or something like that.

I suppose its all still the bottom end of that cyclical scythe swing. I hope its on the way up though because its beautiful outside, and I am suddenly realizing its summer again.
I was shooting for my old bedtime of 9:00 last night, yeah I know.. outta control! 10 became 11 and I was still puttering about out here. I forced... Read More
I believe we always dream, we jsut don't remember them. I dreamt last night but don't remember. The kind of dreams I love. The ones about the future. So when you say you want to dream, do you really mean you want glimpes of the future? I hope what you saw last night was enough to spike your flatline. Even though when I have such dreams it doesn't seem I get much rest. Let me know how things are in your part of the world.
I came home tonight fully planning on sitting down with my Reason book and fully emmersing myself back into the shockingly confusing world of tweaking CV things and gate inputs.
This keyboard, albeit fun, is totally humbling me.
Morgan, somehow, can totally hear me when I am coming up the stairs at the end of my day at the office. By the time I sneak... Read More
When I first read this, my heart sank, for I was worried something dreadful might have happened to the adorable Morgan. I'm glad he ate the hogie buns!
We step aside from my regular humorous and uplifting journal entries for a brief bitch session.
Im a fairly liberal person when it comes to humanity. Pretty forgiving actually. Immediately trusting, and the thesaurus fails to come up with another word for empathetic, so again theres that empathy word. Compassionate maybe? Sorta mostly.
My old circle of friends were all over the map on that... Read More
Oh Morgan seems like such a wonderful dog! I find myself relating everything about Morgan to Mars. Everything you spoke of about how Morgan was acting, the inaudible growl, the mowhawk, well it makes me think of Mars. I want to meet Morgan and pet him and stick my face in his neck!
A time ago, in the not to distant passed, I used to be one of those backpack wearing greasy dreaded drifters that slept on the streets and in the alleys, that had no home and now way out. I knew the horrors of Gastown and the darkest corners of hastings at night. But one thing happend that most of the time doesnt. I got a second chance. I took that chance too. And I made it back home. Here to saskatchewan, were I worked hard and made it back into school. Cleaned up and gave it my all. Unfortunetly, most of those out there in Van dont get a second chance. Or a chance at all. When Im in Vancouver I always make sure I have some change in my pocket or a cigarette to spare when Im walking down town. It may not be much but well if it gets them food or drugs or booze or what. If it gets them by another day, then it gets them by. Human life is human life, Im not one to deny that, but some people argue that its silly to help them. But having walked in those shoes and in those paths, I understand now, that the same rules apply for all of us. Treat folks how you wish to be treated. I give change and smokes out cause if I was in need Id want someone to offer some help to me. Someone to show some small sliver of kindness. That alone would maybe be enough to change that persons mind and maybe not look at the world as such a horrible place and perhaps change there ways and walk a lighter path. But for those who are coked out in the dark alleys of china town or those selling cheap sex in gas town. Its the only life they know, and well perhaps that alone is their punishment, punishment for what? Who knows. Punishment for their own ignorance? Im almost certain many have the opportunity to turn their lives around. Im just not certain how many are aware of it. Punishment for what? I really cant say. Maybe its not punishment at all. I cant really judge a person by how they live their lives because how do I know that they dont have a choice. But one thing gets to me, the ones that feel that have no obligation to show any respect. there are lots out there with unfortunet storys, and then there are those who are just out there to cause a scene and stick it to the man. Theres a reason they are shunned and looked down apon, yet they continue to bring it apon themselfves. I really dont know what to think sometimes. I often find myself helpless as well, then again its not like Im the one to solve the problem, but atleast helping a person or two is the best I can offer. It really pains me to see, the homeless, especially the elderly homeless. I know those people once had lives, and for whatever reasons that caused them to end up there, it still pains me. Why arnt they somewhere enjoying there old folks pension? or where are their children and grandchildren? Maybe they dont have any, maybe they dont want to be found. The streets I have to agree is no place for a pet. Im sorry to hear about what happend to you. But atleast you could see passed the social image of punks and atleast have the idea that maybe under better circumstances that they wouldnt have that animal with them. But they keep for some reason, perhaps for defence from other drifets, or maybe they can afford to feed it, perhaps it eats better than them. Even though thats highly doubtable.
I dont really know what else to say. Your journal had me on the edge of my seat, cause it really brought back memorys for me. Most people look down and change the topic when it comes to the drifters, the poor and the homeless. Im glad you didnt shine away from the topic. I just wish more people would adress it.
