The woman I spent New Years with is sleeping in my guest room, on the other side of the wall from me.

One day, if the time is right, I may tell her how I feel about her. I value her as a person, and as a close friend. I care about her deeply. In many ways, I love her.

And less than a week ago, her long time boyfriend broke things off instead of proposing to her like everyone, most of all her, expected him to.

He was her best friend, confidant, and love.

She hurts so much right now, and will for a long time.

They may try counseling, but he thinks they aren't meant to be together---at least for right now.

I just want for her to be happy.

I spent my New Year's watching movies with her, and then she cried on my shoulder before slipping off into a teary sleep.
