I got together with eight professional photographers yesterday and for shits and giggles i got on SG and showed them the photographer group, and we checked the posts, photographs and journals of some of these so called photographers. There are some excellent photographers on this site that are real professionals but we also identified the ones who are full of themselves,and who post just for the fuck of it. But what is amazing is the amount of lousy advise given by people with no knowledge of photography or the business of photography, who just like to see themselves on the internet.
We got one so called BIG TIME photographer with weak photographs in his journal and no website. He reminds me of 'Oz" from "The Wizard fo Oz" movie, remember how everybody though he was awesome until they pulled the curtain back. This poser talks big time talk, and i would love to pull back the curtain on his ass! I belong to lots of professional photographer forums on the internet that have professionals that understand the business. I've seen some girls on SG take self sets of themselves, equal too or better than some of these "photographers". That's the bad thing about the internet, some of these photographers can be keyboard commandos and live a fantasy life! If i could only reach far enough to grab that fuckin curtain some of them are hiding behind. I network with professional photographers all over the country, and one i know is looking into one of these photographers for me, he teaches some photography classes and knows this "professional" photographer from his classes. I could expose this guy for what he really is, but i'll just continue to read his posts in the group. ..small world isn't it!

Update Sep 20th

I see by the phone calls and e-mails i received that some of us are in agreement on the statement i made about some of the girls self sets being equal too or better than the photographers. So maybe some people will keep it real and realize that.



Also if you have a $1000 digital camera why would you use crap lighting like this?



Or this ? i teach photography and my students would die laughing if they saw this!

Does anybody think a professional photographers private group on SG would fly? It's kind of annoying to look at the photography group and find threads for beginners. I would love to run a professional group and talk about marketing and other business ideas. As for how i found out about the other photographer just call any photographic store,photo lab or agency in Albuquerque and they know me. The same for you and anybody else as photographers are known in certain groups in any city.


And that photographer is harmless, just tends to exaggerate the truth. So i'll keep that name to myself! and don't worry it's nobody on my friend list.
