I know I need to make the step up to digital photography but since I am a professional I need the best camera I can afford. I am looking at some of the 11,14 and 16 megapixel cameras. Some wedding photographers are moving from the 6 megapixel D100 to the more expensive models. I went to a friends studio and saw a 16" x 20" printand was amazed at the quality
We scan all my 6x7 format negatives but its a lot slower than downloading straight into the computer. I have even had brides ask me if I did digital weddings because they want proofs and negatives not a CD. Actually have gotta quite a few weddings from the competition because of that reason.
Full time photography is a very hard business since you have lots of competition and now everybody is getting digital cameras and printers. But if you have a good reputation you can hold your own.
We sent off my Playboy test today and they came out very much like you would see in the magazine! Hair and makeup can truly create the centerfold look. If anybody has actually met girls who were in Playboy or Maxim they look like a lot of girls you would see at the mall or on the street,and its the photography that makes them stand out,something only a professional photographer can acheive. Sometimes the most beautiful women dont look good on film while an average person will look amazing with good hair and makeup.Its our job as photographers to get that amazing look whether its digital or film. Thats what makes a photography business survive as anybody can take a "picture" but only so many talented people can create a true "photograph"
