During the past 10 days or so, it's become apparent to me that I worked my ass off so much that I hardly have any more work to do on a day-to-day basis. I kind of hope that lasts for the rest of my tour (2.5 months and counting down) here... I'm growing fond of the idea of not working and getting paid for it....

Where to start?
I feel great, rejuvenated--in control of my life.
I finally got through what was my first inspection as (I guess we would call me...)a project manager (...in the civilian world), succesfully. I still hate paperwork and bureaucracy though, and none of the good things the inspectors had to say about my program or myself will ever change my mind about going back...

I don't know, Greek and Irish is pretty cool! But I do have the different continents, different hemispheres thing going!
I'd like to go during the Olympics but it's going to be chaos! I don't know, it really depends on my research. Some of my family lives in Athens, but they go to Lesvos for the summer. I have a friend who lives in Athens, so I may check it out. I think it'd be a pretty fun experience! We'll have to grab a drink if we're both there at the same time!

Funny that you say that. My buddies are playing in a bar here in Anjung-ri. I appreciate the offer though.
First, news for those who don't care about the Super Bowl.
My road trip this past weekend was sadly cancelled. Work overruled well-laid plans, and I found myself once more fighting the good fight against a giant named Bureaucracy. I don't know if I can deal with all this for another 11 days. Each 24 hour cycle that goes by is worse than the one...

Hey man,
I heard they're gonna outlaw lapdancing the stripclubs near US military bases in Korea. I can't imagine that being good for morale.
At any rate, not much in the way of news for me. Work continues to be insane, but they recently gave me a 20" flat panel monitor for all the time I put in over the "holidays" covering for other people. Of course, it sorta makes me feel like an abused wife who was just handed flowers...

HA! How's about Ahhhnold hiring the hatchet man to execute others in the name o' Crom?
I got off from work 3 hours ago, and I have to go back in 6. Paperwork is driving me insane. And not in that funny, good, healthy way, either.
Granted, I sold my soul to The Man, but in exchange I was supposed to get to do some exciting shit. I have now gone more than 8 months without getting to do anything neat...

I lived on Yongsan compound in Seoul from '69 - '71. (My father was Deputy Comptroller for 8th Army... I was born in '58). There is no doubt that the experience warped me for life: rampant corruption, political turmoil, incredible filth and disease, unbearable heat and humidity in the summer and bone-chilling cold in the winter. And in those days most of the country was terribly poor. About the only positive aspects were that I spent a LOT of time in the countryside hiking in the fall and spring.
Internet access would have been amazing. "Mash" (the movie) came out while we were there, and the Army banned it. But somehow it got challenged in the US Courts, and the ban was overturned. Boy the crowds on the base for the first showings were something else.

Yes, but the symbol used for the concept of Flux in thermodynamics is Φ.

Not much going on. I have veered away from the constant partying during the last two weeks, hitting the gym and the running track pretty profusely. Unfortunately, Friday was a Squadron night, so we all got together and indulged in tons of alcohol and unprofessional conduct. Which basically means I was just trying to recuperate yesterday.
I've got three months left in this place,...

thank you, that is so nice. I feel supported and a bit more confident in my decision. I appreciate you, my air force friend.
Well, this new year is getting harder and harder, but at least I might be getting the worst shit out of the way early.
Too much work is flying my way, but I think I'll be able to stay afloat until March, when I should start skating downhill in anticipation of my return to the States.

Thanks for the Avatar compliment! I'm not sure how much longer I'll leave it up though. Although, it's hard to beat slick men and curvy women's backsides.

Yeah, I've heard it's very tense over there - but reading about it and living it, not the same, is it? Actually, I meant in the sense of broadband/internet connections - that the difference betweeen S. Korea (specifically Seoul) and N. America in this area is huge - but you don't seem to be benefiting from this
. Lineage is a game that supposedly everyone plays over there - just curious if you had.

Well, the last 24-36 hours have been peachy.
Downloaded a whole lot of software for my recovering PC, started transferring over all my old CD-stored files, and in general just lounged around my room, drinking lemonade, eating hot-pockets, and checking out the site inbetween movies.
I think I might go purchase a new digital camera today. My old one never made it here (hijacked by...

Well.
Last night didn't feel too rough, but I still had trouble piecing together the last couple of hours' worth of events this morning.
The good news is, I didn't do anything illegal or offensive. That bad news? Several of my friends claim I was being "mushy" with my on-again, off-again girl. This after my declaration that, along with the old year, the relationship would...

Beautiful comments in the Colombine thread, man. My style is more blunt and not as eloquent. Very nicely worded. Damn limeys. hehe
Well...
After about two months' worth of strenuous work and shitty internet connection, I think I'm back for good.
Can't very much say more than that, unfortunately, as my life has been taken over by paperwork and bureaucracy. I find it very interesting that I specifically volunteered for my line of work so that I could avoid paper-shuffling. Oh fucking well, I guess.

Ahh, by "back" you mean "still in Korea". hah. Funny, my reading comprehension improves during the daytime when I'm not drinking.
Sucks that you can't trust the postal system to get expensive items. When's the next trip back to the states?

Work... pretty much sucks right now.
Too much shit is going on at a time I simply wish to spend planning for the holidays. For the second time this week, I have to get decked out in my dress uniform. It's for good news reasons, so I don't mind, but it is a pain in the ass nonetheless.

I haven't been on much of late (I'm working all the time now) and it looks like you haven't updated in almost a month. You haven't gotten yourself shot or anything, have you?
