Well, it looks like I'm back in NC for the time being. For at least 3 more months anyways.

Travelling was great, though I'm glad I came back from Korea when I did, as I probably spent a little too much money there on cabs, hotel rooms, partying with old friends, etc.

Right now, the number 2 most frustrating thing is not having a USB cable to download my 100+ travel photos from my camera.

The Number 1 most frustrating thing right now is not having a car. mad

I've spent, oh, probably over 24 hours checking out cars online, talking to dealers on the phone, etc., etc. I know what I want...

...but I think I'll wait until my next deployment, when I can throw a few thousand dollars away as a down payment. whatever
Until then, I guess I'll buy a semi-fashionable beater that'll get me from point A to point B.

I'm so tempted to just go get it over with now, though, and just re-finance when I get back from the next trip...

Anyways, what else? Once everything's settled at work (a month or so from now), I'll take my happy ass to buy a nice bicycle and start some triathlon training. I guess some more volunteer work will be in order. I don't know... I'm just not really adjusted to the fact that I'm back in the States again, I guess. Part of me just wants to go into hermit mode until the next deployment comes.

Catch you guys on the flip side. wink

Have you read Xenophon?

"Anabasis"...the march up-country....

An amazing work by a military historian (and friend of
Socrates) about a mercenary expidition he and 10,000
greeks took into the midsts of Persia....

Curiously enough, it is a story placed in what is now
Iraq.

Strange.

P.S.

Get a Loeb classics edition...it has Ancient Greek on the
left page, and an English translation on the right....

It also contains a description of all the gory details, strategic
decisions, and tactical moves they made.

I think you might like it...I did.
