It was about time I updated the Journal, eh? It's been almost a month after all.

The past three weeks have been somewhat interesting--definitely more fun than their predecessors since, oh, December.

Some of the goings-on were standard fare; there were a lot of outings with friends, though this now involves more of going to live music shows and less of just drinking until curfew. A lot of good friends have been leaving lately (either to return to the US, or on their way to be deployed), which of course increased the frequency of outings.

As I get closer to my own departure date, I've found it harder and harder to maintain a proper focus at work. This past year, during which I took on a challenging job meant for two people of knowledge and rank greater than mine, has been very taxing. I'm guessing everyone knows this, which is why my senior officers have been very lenient on me, not minding so much as I roll in an hour late, leave two hours early, and enjoy long lunches.

So no one really raised a fuss when I decided to leave town for a week during our Wing's exercise for the Spring quarter. My job is mostly a war-time one, and entirely apart from what the folks at the Air Base do... thus, no one bothers me most of the time. Oh, I did some training with friends, but I also took the opportunity to enjoy Korea on my time off--check out the countryside, see the people, and indulge a little bit.

I purchased a couple hundred dollars' worth of vino, as well as some imported Cubans, and relaxed in a nice hotel by one of the smaller resort towns. I treated myself to some sauna time, a few massage sessions, etc. I thought about getting fitted for a couple of suits at a nice store I saw, but I decided to wait until I visit Greece for that. You know... connections.

Last week I attended a very nice, laid-back sort of a party with some of the people I really enjoy spending time with at the Squadron. Very nice, intellectual, and thoughtful. Not exactly the stereotypical idea of fighter jocks, military wives, and snake-eaters. We had one of those really good times, enjoying coctails and wines, talking about all the things going on around the world right now... politics, economics, etc. A very good way to end the week.

Some time in the next two weeks, the movers will come and pick up the latest collection of junk I seem to keep accumulating every time I'm overseas. Two weeks after that, I will have left Korea. I'm not really sure how I feel about that yet... it's probably a subject best left for another journal entry. wink

Phoebus, HOW can you be so healthy and sharp as much as you go out!? tongue Ah, you kill me! If I drank that much still, I'd be so out of it!
Hey, so where you going next? Greece for vacation, right, but what after that?
