The ups and downs of existence. I'm on a weird keel at the moment, not really knowing which direction to let my emotions dip in. I'm doing great, personally, but in the midst of a happy weekend, I found out that one of my closest friend's little sister died in a car wreck. I'd really like to make it home for the service, but I'm...

didn't tori do a cover of heart of gold? or am I just imagining that? For some reason I lost my "strange little girl" cd, which is what it would have been on.

puke ha!

oh mang! you went to Eagle Creek! lucky bastard! that used to be one of my favorite hikes this time of year. Oh how I miss the Gorge. Next spring, you must promise me to visit Catherine Creek. Trust me, you'll love it.

Wow, the sun is brilliant today! A cool breeze, the smell of pine, I think I'll sit on the balcony a while and polish my guitars and my bass while I toss back a few bottles of the poor man's ambrosia. It's the type of weather that makes me want to slip my pack on my back, sling a guitar over my shoulder, lace up...

ugh, moving sucks. I have friends here at school but I still miss my best buddies at home...they're too special to ever be replaced.

I've decided that I need a new profile pic. This one is from two years ago when I lived in Alaska. The hair is now a bit shorter, but still just as curly (no defeating the Kyle curls), and I no longer have that scraggly facial hair (got a full-fledged beard now). Don't have a digital cam though, and it's proven impossible to take a...

But...but....strawberry marguritas are so damn good!

Actually I got hungover from many shots of tequila, the only sweetish thing I had saturday night was wine. Though that could have done the trick as well. I think it was mostly because I stayed up too late though. I can have lots of liquor but if I don't get enough sleep it doesn't matter.

In response to Les' journal comment:

That sounds so gorgeous. Lack of industry, it sounds, is definitely a GOOD thing. You are so fortunate to have lived somewhere so pristine. If I didn't enjoy modern civilization so thoroughly, I'd move there in a heartbeat. Or Canada. Nugs are "pretty much" legal there now.

Saturday night, house to myself for once. My oldest friend in the world (as in, known the longest, not chronological age) randomly moved to Portland, and since I'm dirt poor and he has no place to stay, we've temporarily joined forces. Unfortunately, I had adjusted quite well to living alone, and having someone around all the time is really pissing me off, especially since his...

sometimes i crave time alone, too. Living with the woman is one thing, but throw a messy, spoiled, alcoholic preppy/frat guy (along with his friends who might as well be paying rent here) into the mix (i TOTALLY hear ya, bro), it really wears on the soul and gives me temporary fits of murderous fantasy.
Sounds like you'll work it all out with your roomie, as long as he knows it's a temporary situation. I've found that sometimes friends just grow apart, especially if they live together.
les:
well at least he's helping with the rent for a couple weeks, right? if not kick him. to the curb.

Being unable to post for a while because of the cross-country move apparently got me out of the habit entirely. Time to get back in the saddle....

I made it to Portland safe and sound, and I have to say, I'm really digging this place so far. Unfortunately it took every last dime I had (plus the $$ I had to borrow from friends and...

my husband hates not being able to pump his own gas too.
He gets to pump his own gas for a whole year over here in Ireland.
The recycling situation out her blows.- My husband keeps putting stuff in the recyle bin that will get us into trouble- like plastic bottles n such.
Its crazy. On the other hand- they make you pay for plastic bags so everyone carries their own bags here.
(thats cool)
FYI I love the song NightSwimming by REM!- Its one of my all time faves.
les:
what has happened to you? haven't talked to you in a while.

Not much time for an update, got to return my cable modem to the bastards at Comcast. I'm leaving in 2 days and still haven't packed a damn thing. Going to start that this evening after I interview Cloud Cult for the radio station.

I won't be posting for a solid week at least, but you can follow the progress of my 2600 mile trip...

Well, it's 2:16, trying to force sleep to come with a High Life and a bowl. The final radio show went great. The radio station has certain rules you must follow (no real cuss words, etc.), but they let me break pretty much any rule I felt like tonight. Played some of my all-time favorites and a decent amount of requests. I'm going to miss...

Mother fucker, I am worn out. But, preparations for the move to Portland are nearly finished. All job, apartment and school paperwork is in. Now it's all down to packing and cleaning. Trying to help my two roommates move out as well, but the stifling heat down here is making it a major chore. Just enough time now for a quick breather and a Rolling...

awwwww, well I tried to listen and it just keeps popping up the webpage is currently unavailable. grrr.
You should do the show naked, just because. Any excuse to be naked is a good one!

Alcohol and maryjane make everything and anything bearable! I'm really trying to resist the urge to smoke right this minute, I'm going to watch The Two Towers tonight and I'm *trying* to save my high for that.
siara:
good luck with the move!!

Just got back from working a concert at USM. The Forms, a New York garage band, came down to the Burg to play a free show in the student union at lunch. Unfortunately, they showed up late, so it was mostly us radio station peeps watching the show. But, we got in trouble with the university staff for cranking the volume waaaay too loud, so...

I like your porcupine idea...... I should get to work on this, sounds like a good self defense mechanism. Too bad I just shaved them finally.

Things have just gotten interesting with the Portland move. PSU has bumped my work hours down, which means the pay drops from $800 a month to $625. Not too big of a deal really, since I'd have to get a part time job either way, and having less hours to work at PSU means more hours to work elsewhere. But, I've just been told that...
