What a nothing night. Hell, what a nothing day. The highlights were a big brownie and a shower.

The winter doldrums seem to be settling into my system. I always get a bit down in the winter (although part of me relishes the melancholy), but this year it seems to be exacerbated by the fact that I'm 3000 miles from home and have a case...

This was officially the crappiest Thanksgiving I've ever had.

I expected very little going into it, as I was supposed to be sharing a meal with my ex and her boyfriend. Being the jackasses that they are, of course things reached lows that I didn't expect. They were supposed to show up and help cook at around 11, but didn't show up until almost 4....

Okay, social mentality, I gotta ask. What's 70s about your social mentality?
That sounds like a hell of a lot of fun while it lasted smile
alyssum:
Hooray, one more Poly comment on my journal and I think I qualify for some sort of prize biggrin
That's a good part of why I wish I'd lived in the 70s too. I can only hope that's where we're headed again soon... the whole unquestioning acceptance of the standard life-patterns (church, school, more school, marriage, babies, houses, dogs, etc.) leaves me rather limp.

The new vertical thing pretty well drives me nuts wink

Damn, the Death Cab for Cutie show fucking rocked. I almost bowed out and stayed home, was running fever and feeling like crap for most of the day, but I didn't want to miss one of my favorite bands. I wasn't able to drink or dance, just kind of stood there and listened, but it was well worth it.

Called in to work today. Don't...

The weather continues to be grey and leaves me rather pensive, but in a way that I like. Kind of like sticking your tongue on a 9-volt battery. It kind of feels bad, but in an intriguing way.

Excellent news on the workfront. Since I'm not able to go home for Christmas, work is going to give me a $1600 bonus for working during the...

I've been having the some 9-volt feeling lately. The more it sticks around, the more I'm liking it. That's a seriously fantastic bonus! The last time I got that much I had worked several 12-hour shifts over Y2K weekend.

I pretty rarely hear my voice recorded, that'd be pretty cool. It's a good thing to get used to. smile Michael Stipe though, good choice!

it's snowing i might do it for some hot chocolate...

Well, I got some time off from work to go home to Louisiana for Christmas, but there isn't a ticket in my price range for the dates I have available. Blargh, it'll be my first Christmas away from home. Had to happen sooner or later, I know.

Supposed to be registering for classes this week, but the system is down. Not that there will be...

Eh, i don't have much choice in the matter right now. Change isn't too far off though.

I have nothing of import to say at the moment, so I figured I'd do something different. I used to be a newspaper columnist, and I think I'm going to post some of my old articles. This is the first column that I ever wrote. Hope you enjoy.

And just for the record, I love my Cure Acoustic Greatest Hits album. Nothing like the cure...

I need a new journal, but right now I'm too full of PBR to make one.

I would like to announce that as of this weekend, I officially hit the 2 year mark of no girlfriend, smooches, sex, what have you.

And let me tell you, it's drama free.

But my penis yells at me of nights.

Back on the attack after my weekend sojourn to northern California, and what a spectacular fucking weekend it was! I feel positively rejuvenated and bright. Really didn't want to come home!

The conference I attended took place at an environmental camp outside of Redding and Whiskeytown, in
Shasta and Humboldt counties. Three days of rural cabins tucked in mountain niches miles away from town, three...

That girl's name isn't Astrid, is it? She's one of my best buds in the world. And she can find the best buds in the world! It's on the downlow there, like anywhere else, but once you get in with the right circle of people, you'll never have to worry about finding it ever again.

Congrats on the guitar perfomance! Now you just need to record! If you ever need an engineer...

Off to Humboldt County, CA for the weekend. I'm the faculty advisor for a group of students at a civic engagement conference.

I ask you, how am I supposed to behave and look after these students in a place called Whiskeytown?

Be back Sunday night.....
mikael:
You absolutely RULE!! Thanks for the XP!!! NOthing like getting loving in the mail coming back from a long weekend away.

And too bad I didn't know you were going to Humboldt earlier! One of my bestest friends in the world lives there and could could you up sooo fat. I'll get you in touch with her anyway, so if you ever go down there again... biggrin
les:
whiskeytown? hell, how are you supposed to behave in Humboldt county?

Today was a very shitty day indeed.
I think I'll do this in list format:

1. After making me wait 45 days, my old realtor finally contacted me to say that I'm not getting my $750 deposit back.

2. I didn't get the job that I thought I nailed with the Beaverton School District, so it's back to start with the job search.

3. My...

what a butthole! our realtor tried to do the same thing to us. But we told him we'd be having none of that, the apartment looked better when we left then when we moved in. We ended up getting it all back. You should try.
