I have a 1GB and a 2GB card. I filled about 2.5GB with pictures and panoramas. I also shot 12 rolls of 36 exp film. 
But despite all that, I did not take nearly as many photos as I could have, nor did I spend my vacation staring through the viewfinder. We saw enough things to fill an 8GB card.
