What a bittersweet trip life has been the past 2 weeks and it has taken a lot out of me...
It was foggy and cool as we held the memorial service for my late Uncle on Saturday. We went down to the shore and sat in a circle as we said goodbye and shared our many fond memories of him. Their were plenty tears but also a lot of laughter at the stories he use to tell. He spent most of his life on the road, adventuring, and that's how I will always remember him. Never saying when he was coming or going, never saying goodbye.
Fittingly, two eagles screamed as they came out of the fog surrounding us and circled overhead before retreating into mists. I like to think they were letting us know that he has passed over and is now with his father and the rest of our ancestors, drinking scotch and talking about geology and precious metals and probably arguing about politics. Fare thee well Uncle. I know we'll see you and Grandpa again, down the road...
In other news... Over the past 2 weeks, I have had to test and interview for a permanent spot at my work and... I got the Job!
It was a tough competition as I know a lot of those that applied and I had to fight through my grief and perform at my best and I did!
I am now a permanent employee of the British Columbia Public Service and can continue my work, assisting my fellow citizens while at the same time furthering my own educational goals!
One of the big perks of working for the Provincial Government is that as long as I maintain a certain grade level, they will reimburse me the cost of my tuition and books and allow me to fit my work and school life together!
I'm heading back to University! Of course, I need to upgrade some courses and It probably won't happen for another year but nothing is going to stop me from from getting a degree now!
Alright, if you've read this far, get off the computer for a few hours and go live, love and laugh!
