"My life is changing in so many ways, I don't know who trust anymore" - Neil Young

Over the past few months, I've been battling anxiety and depression due to many factors in my life and my best mates, the ones I normally would turn to in times of duress, haven't been around. We've all got our own lives some live far away, some minutes away and while we have the magic of the intertenet and we all facebook, life has put distance between us. How funny is it then, that in the hour of need, when I need them the most, they appear. My oldest friend from highschool arrived from Australia 2 weeks ago with his wife and 2 young sons. Another friend, having some free time, decided to pop into town yesterday from his home in Northern BC. The others who live here suddenly had some free time.
We haven't all gotten together as a group in close to a decade.
Last night, for the first time in years, I had my best friends in the whole world over. I cooked up some jerk chicken and rice and peas and everyone ate well and beer and wine were downed. They brought their girlfriends and wives, some new to the scene but everyone got along great! It was awesome! biggrin It was like no time had passed; We may as well have been 18 again, gettin drunk, talking shit and having fun, no concerns in the world but excited about the possibilities of the future; and the laughter! I haven't laughed like that in so long. Deep, soulful laughter. The kind that washes away the bullshit and the darkness, knocks you off your ego trip and puts you in the right place. Laughter than makes you realize that while you may think your friends have given up on you, maybe it's you who has given up on them. Then you realize it doesn't matter because they are real friends and they are true and that they will come running from across the globe to help you with the weight of the stone. If you let them. You realize that it doesn't matter if you never meet another person that can be trusted because you can always, ALWAYS, trust them and trust in them. These are the kind of friends that make a man rich beyond all the material wealth in the world and their friendship is truly priceless; and oh what a rich man I am! biggrin
And, at the end of the night, as they were all going home, I realized that no matter how far away something is or how lost it may seem, it's on it's way back.
