Wow, and wow again!! This is probably going to seem like a blinding flash of the obvious (OW, my EYES!!), but Minneapolis is a really busy town. Having spent almost my entire time here working from 11pm to 7am I've never really had a chance to see the place during the day. How totally fun is this place? I've spent a lot of time in little towns (and three surreal years in Grand Forks, ND - city motto: don't worry those walls'll hold this time wink ) and it is truly amazing to watch so many people living their lives.
Normally I go home from work and head straight to bed till about four or five in the afternoon, but today the most generous postal person left me a bittersweet (it said they were so sorry they missed me. It felt good to be wanted, but sad to have jerked with their feelings like that 'cause I really wasn't waiting to see them.) note saying I had a package to pick at the post office. Being the impatient type . . . well okay, more like: being the type who can say, "Have you really got something more important to do with your time right now?" I legged it off to the station. Despite almost succumbing to the rabid Loring Park squirrels (I actually had one run up my leg and try to eat my package claim slip, furry little devils)I managed to get there just in time to realize that they don't open for another half hour. mad mad mad grrrrrr.
So I wandered off downtown and was just so blown away. I mean, I 'll be the first to admit that I'm not quite right in the head (actually I'm probably the 101st) but there is something really uplifting about seeing so many people out LIVING. I'm sure some of them are ticked about something and some don't really want to be going to work, but just seeing that many people out and about kind of gives you a perky bubbly feeling that things just might be okay. If they can handle than I can handle it. . . . . . . . . . . . . Or maybe I'm just a little short on sleep and being way too optimistic.

By the way, I did finally get my package. I ended up just standing in the lobby looking pitiful and one of the postal workers finally gave in and bought it out for me. It was a shiny new book! I was so happy, but then . . . on the walk home . . . the squirrels ate it. frown
