Never get a DUI.

I finished my requirements to receive a driver's license about two months ago. I even got a temporary license from the DMV and they said the card would be on its way.

Well, in the meantime, I lost my ID card in Vegas, and haven't been able to go to bars, clubs, or even have a drink with dinner.

So, two months go by and I figure the card shoulda been here by now. I call DMV today and the woman says, "Well, you didn't fulfill the requirments to get a license. You're still restricted."

WHAT! What the hell did I pay 125 bucks for? Why did I stand in line for two hours to take a test like I was 16? Why did I finish a class that cost me 500 bucks and took 3 months? Why the HELL did the DMV ALREADY give me temporary license?

"Well, I'll have to call you back."

I thought for sure I'd never hear from her again. But lo and behold I get a call.

"Mr Olivieri, we're going to go ahead and send you a new license. It'll be there in two weeks. Thank you. Good Bye!"

"Uh," I said into dead receiver. "Why didn't you send it 8 weeks ago like you said you would?" Nothing but dial tone.


Super.

It's been a year and nine months since I've had a license. Originally I only lost it for one year. I've been battling DMV for nine months.
