This morning I awoke and crawled immediately to my computer, as I am prone to do. The first thing to greet me was news of the London attacks. London, Madrid, New York. That's the short list, the one that comes easily to mind. It'll grow longer, I am certain. I know that there will be more terrible acts to come and I feel nauseous contemplating the possibilities. So I try to avoid it, go about my daily life. What else is there to do? Enlist? Hardly! Iraq, Afghanistan, both are modern-day Vietmans. Yes, it's an awful clich, but it's so damn appropriate. There's no winning, only needless waste of life and resources. As of July 1st, student loan rates doubled. The DV agency for which I volunteer has had its budget slashed. Filling up at the pump is palpably painful now. Need I wonder where it is all going. Fuck you very much too Mr. George W. Bush. I feel blue about this world. What a depressing message to read, no? Humor and cheer escape me at this moment. They'll come back; they always does. But today there's a storm cloud over my head.
