Oh the joy! Oh the excitement! This weekend I will be going to Knoebels Amusement Park & Resort. I LOVE Knoebels!! It's a backwoods-o-Pennsylvania, mom-and-pop style, straight-outta-the-1950s amusement park - complete with old-fashioned wooden rollercoaster (built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company - how cool), carousel where you can still catch the brass rings (must beat up small kids to get horses on the outer rail), bumper boats (no mercy), and birthday cake pavillion (yes, it *is* as glorious as you imagine). Plus, there's a water park (which I don't do b/c I'm not down with swimming in other people's piss) and a camping ground (fun, fun, fun). I'm not a big fan of large-scale amusement parks - too big, too crowded, too filled with concrete, and too obnoxious. Knoebels is a breath of fresh air (air filled with the smell of frying perogies, Pennsylvania Dutch sausages, and funnel cakes) in the world of amusement resorts. Admission is free, you can buy a day pass or individual tickets for the rides. It's a cheap, entertaining date (only 3 hours from Philly) and oooooooh the people watching - it's as entertaining as the rides. Yay!! I'm so excited (and I just can't hide it...) Knoebels, here I come!!

Danville kicked our asses in most everything. I do miss the pretty-ness - but not the bumblefucked-ness. It was nice to be able to get on the highway and actually drive to where you were going without checking the traffic first!
