Seeing as everyone is doing movie reviews for their homework, I feel compelled to talk about the Oldboy remake. I showed @Caitylou the original last weekend, a masterpiece in my eyes. Sat down last night and didn't really fancy anything, so I thought I'd give the remake a watch.
If you have seen the original... do not watch the remake. It's not very good. Josh Brolin acts his chops off, but still doesn't compare to Min-sik Choi, and Sharlto Copley's villain just isn't as compelling or menacing as Ji-tae Yu. The ending is happier, the gore overused, and the beginning tried to hard to make us hate the protagonist.
On the upside, Elizabeth Olsen gets here boobs out... which was nice.
