I don’t know why but I’ve been feeling oddly nostalgic recently for childhood summer days. Summer was always a special time for me, really the best time of year even above Christmas. Maybe because my birthday falls in summer. That’s certainly a reason. Of course there is always the sunshine and long days being outside and just running around having fun even if just in the garden. Although there are things you can only do in summer. Water pistol fights for one. That’s something you can’t do as an adult. There was a time when the best thing I owned was a Super Soaker. And I loved it to bits. Lost track of the amount of water I must have wasted soaking my brother. The best you can do as an adult without seeming weird is Paintball. Which I’ve never actually tried and really should I guess. Maybe I should add that to my list of things to get out and do before the year is out.
