Fuck man, I hate when that happens. I usually find it happens when I'm trying to write a certain type of song on purpose... To get out of it I sit and choose a random synth sound and make something totally mindless. I add a bit here and there, and then go wherever it takes me. The second I try to make it sound a certain way is when I start ruining things...

Sounds like you have too much on your mind to focus on writing music. Camomile tea and playing guitar but not paying much attention to whats being played a total improvisation.
