So, first tattoo experience was... pretty awesome. Because I was a virgin to the needle, I managed to think of everything that could go horribly awry in the process... passing out/throwing up/crying from the pain, the tattoo artist being a dick and intentionally making my tattoo look like shit, my skin having some weird reaction to the ink and having to go to the hospital, etc...
Luckily, none of those things happened.
My best friend, Crispy, came with me, as he has many tattoos, most of which are from the same artist I was going to. He helped calm my nerves while I was waiting. Then Colin (from Skinquake, for those of you in the B-town area) came out with the drawing, and my jaw dropped. It was beyond perfect... and much larger than I had anticipated.
So, we got started. Colin walked me through the process, which was nice. He did a few small lines to give me an idea of what it would feel like, then proceeded with the rest of the outline, asking me every once in a while if I was doing alright.
The whole process took about 4 hours. The first two hours were a piece of cake, the last two hours were a little rough, but I dug my nails into the chair, clenched my teeth, and got through it.
And now, my baby boy is a part of me forever...
(In the process)
(Pre-color)
(Post-color... plus blood)
(The finished product!)
