bartending school?
I inquired about an ad on craigslist for what seemed like an on-the-job training bartending job, but when I got there it was a bartending school.
I'm thinking maybe I should do it, though. It's $295 for a one week course where they teach me everything I need to know, and I'll get a certification/license
and then they do job placements tailored to my needs in any of the boroughs..and that job placement is lifetime..I can always go back to them to find another job for free.
they said I'd make 150-300 a night plus a shift pay of 40-80
so I'm thinking about it because then I'd only have to work about 3 nights a week, and that's really what i'm looking for right now because I want to figure out what I really want to do...whether it's going back to school or whatever
I know people who have bartended without taking a class, but I don't really know much beyond basic mixed drinks..and I don't even do that the correct way haha
so I think this might be a good idea
they even said I could sit in on a class for free to see if it's something I want to do
I don't know...
I was actually offered a waitressing job uptown, but I'm not going to take it because the pay is crappy, and the place is really run down, cramped, and grimy looking...I don't want to work in a place like that.
I hate that I'm turning down a job, but I don't want to take it and then quit right away after finding something better.

And the "a different animal" was in reference to the difference in waitressing in a NYC eatery and, well, anywhere else.
