so im back from my trip.
i stayed with my friend in his apartment. he has three roommates, one from hong kong, and two from germany. its very multicultural up in that house. we went to mickeys, a gay club in west hollywood. it was alright. im not much of a clubbing person. we ate at an italian restaurant there in west hollywood where i ate pecan crusted rack of lamb on wild mushroom risotto. mmmmm.... god, its kind of all like a blur now. we went to laguna beach. my friend asked me if it was like every other beach, like the ones in hawaii. it really isnt. i was so fascinated by the kelp that was washed up on the shore and the mussel-encrusted rocks. we didnt swim, it was too cold. even though i grew up going to the beach, i think kelp touching me would freak me out. its just so large!
we went to disneyland. yea! it is the happiest place on earth. the fireworks show was amazing. also drove to pasadena where we went to a chocolate bar where i had gourmet belgian hot chocolate. oh my god, it was like drinking a brownie. we also ate at a korean restaurant which was quite fabulous. their pickled vegetables, like their kim chee and cucumbers, were some of the spiciest i ever had. talking about eating, which i feel like i spent my whole trip doing, the best experience was at this french restaurant where i got to eat a real chocolate souffle for the first time. also a first, and this experience changed my life, was EATING FOIS GRAS! oh....my.....goodness.....heavens....to....betsy. it was served seared on french toast, topped with a crunchy panchetta chip, with a maple gastrique. i dont have to say that was incredibly delicious. you mainland people are so lucky. so many restaurants. god damn.
ok, what else did i do that wasnt eating? haha cant really think of anything right now. not used to these long posts. will definitely post pics later. of course i tried to photograph all everything during the culinary adventures.....
i wonder how much it would be to take a trip to thailand or hong kong....haha....i want to travel more
