How much depression is too much depression to deal with?

My ex had it bad enough to detonate our 5 year relationship. I have had lots of experience dealing with it to this point. It is not something that ever gets better.

The girl I am seeing (for nearly a year now) does have some depression issues. I care about her alot, but there is a line where self preservation kicks in and I worry about the future.

Anyone with experience with depression have any thoughts?

if she is actively working to get better, like going to therapy, then the relationship could work in the long term. if she is in denial or refuses to get help, ditch her.
