Things that have occupied my days . . .

christmas shopping, tea, sudafed, rereading half blood prince and lolita, school, djarum lights, sleeping funny, tripping through the songs on my mp3 player, wearing gloves while i'm on my computer, seeing the cutest 5 month old shar pei yesterday, scanning comic books, toast, tissues, Potterpuffs (some slash but too cute to ignore!), hair dye, more little purple pills!, pup, vitamin e oil, christmas cookies (coconut tassies!), and finally . . . MY BEST FRIEND IS BACK IN THE STATES!

She'll be back around these parts next week.

NEXT FUCKING WEEK!!

I've been actually reading my e-mail and I learned 2 things today:

tmesis \TMEE-sis\, noun:
In grammar and rhetoric, the separation of the parts of a compound word, now generally done for humorous effect; for example, "what place soever" instead of "whatsoever place," or "abso-bloody-lutely."

I didn't know there was a word for that, that's so cool!

And this article in the NY Times (you need a memberhsip, but it 's free) about narwhals. Now, they scare me a bit, but I think it's so cool, scientists have finally found out what the tusk is for.

But a team of scientists from Harvard and the National Institute of Standards and Technology has now made a startling discovery: the tusk, it turns out, forms a sensory organ of exceptional size and sensitivity, making the living appendage one of the planet's most remarkable, and one that in some ways outdoes its own mythology.

The find came when the team turned an electron microscope on the tusk's material and found new subtleties of dental anatomy. The close-ups showed that 10 million nerve endings tunnel from the tusk's core toward its outer surface, communicating with the outside world. The scientists say the nerves can detect subtle changes of temperature, pressure, particle gradients and probably much else, giving the animal unique insights.

How cool is that?!

Okay I'm done. peace out.
