"'I like airplanes. I like anywhere that isn't a proper place. I like inbetweens."
There's something about airplanes that brings out the seven-year-old in me. I can't help but stare out the window looking down at the landscape below, just amazed at the distance. The desert was so stark and beautiful. And then the california suburbs are so, well, square. It's sort of bizzare. And when you're up that high, it's almost like you can tell the world is round. Which is cool. Dry airplane air and unsanitary airplane blankets are not BUT we can ignore those. Especially when obnoxious passengers wrap themselves in them.

It's just the drinks we drank last night
Thursday night was so much fun. The entire family congregated at my cousin Rob's house (Rob is who got married). Merriment ensued, especially when Susan (the bride-to-be) insisted that the only rule of the night was for everyone to get shitfaced. I came pretty close. Do you know how hard it is to do 8th grade algebra (which, to be honest, I have trouble remembering on the best of days) when you're drunk? After the gathering we went back to the hotel and I passed out. Literally. And I wasn't even really hungover which was pretty awesome.

Eat drink and be merry
The bride's family owns a Japanese restaurant and that was where we held the rehearsal luncheon. There was gorgeous sushi rolls, with all kinds of fish, but due to my empty stomach, night of heavy drinking and being picky about my tuna, I stayed away. One of the brothers made my cousin a whole plate of beautiful sushi with no shellfish since she's allergic. It was a fantastic meal, which ended with green tea ice cream and I also tried red bean ice cream, which is really, really, good.

All I want is an umbrella in my drink!
We checked into our swank hotel. I don't care what the brat working at the starbucks thinks, it was a swank hotel. The Desert Springs Marriot Resort and Spa. My mom and I shared a room with my 2 cousins. They were going to stay at a time share with their parents but they decided to stay in our room instead. My mom went to the wedding rehearsal and we went in search of a frou-frou drink. Which, $32 later, we each had one. It was good, but the bartender lied to us! He said we could take them on the boat tour, which was a complete and total lie. And by the time we finished our drinks, the boat tour was over. However while we were enjoying our drinks on a patio, some old guy proposed to me. He was just kidding of course, but shouldn't have been eavesdropping.

"Pink Hair came up to them. She wore a short green dress that did little for her hair--how could anything go with that bubblegum?"
I did in fact wear a green dress to the wedding with my freshly pinked hair. It wasn't short and looked quite good actually. The best man said I looked like Poison Ivy, which was in fact enough to steal my heart since she is a hot Batman character. He didn't though, and that probably worked out well for all parties involved. The wedding itself was a lovely, Roman Catholic affair; I'm not being sarcastic, it was very nice, but a bit much at times. The reception was at the hotel which meant I could go up to my room and switch my high heels from hell for my scruffy flip flops. The food was excellent, the drinks were better. I even had a drink I made up complimented by the bartender, named after me, and sought after by my entire family. Too bad that bartender is still in california since he made it the best. I went back later in my nightclub gear (a relatively tame strapless dress, but since it didn't require big stompy boots with it, it was a go), and managed to drink even more. It should be noted I had plenty of time to sober up and did. I also didn't drink nearly as much as my cousins did. I never did go to the nightclub. Oh well.

And then that was it. After a nice breakfast with most of my family on sunday morning we began our journey back to the ocean state. I don't have very many pictures, because a significant amount of them came out blurry. Still, here's a couple.

Me and the couple. They are much better looking in person. This isn't the best of pictures, but I'm glad my cousin took it.

The cake which, besides looking fabulous, it was also really good.

I think this is one of the escorts for the flower girls. How cute is he?

All in all, good times were had. Now I'm back in RI to proper fall weather and it's sort of disconcerting.

Red bean ice cream! Fun to say, and fun to eat. Sounds like a fun wedding, and your dress is so cute!

Sounds like you had a great time biggrin, That must have been amazing being able to look down on the landscapes and the desert and then california (i've never been on a plane so wouldn't know tongue).

That must have been great the familys getting together at his house and just having a great time, and then the luncheon at the restaurant would have been very cool to.

Blah!!, forget what that person at the starbucks said, if you liked and really enjoyed the hotel then it's a swank hotel and thats what matters biggrin. That sucks about the boat tour and the drinks, they should have been allowed it's not like use were drunk or anything.

Thats great that the wedding went well and everything went smoothly, how was it a bit much at times if you dont mind me asking?. That kid does look cute in his little suit lol and only if that was his little finger in his mouth then he'd be doing the doctor evil thing tongue. Did the stand come with the cake or is it a family thing that is like especially for the cake because it looks incredibly detailed and ornate. You look really good in the green dress and with your new pink hair smile.

Also before I forget what was the drink you came up with if it's not to much of a secret and you dont mind me knowing?.

Well it's great to see that you really enjoyed yourself and got to have a great time with your family in california and that you had a good trip there and a good trip back biggrin.
