And Can I Help It?
I had a pretty good day today.
I went to school with Juan (Hereafter referred to as Skip). We had Biology today. Its pretty dry and boring so far, but atleast i can stay awake. I know i'll be snoozing through Math class. Yawn. Skip and I are taking all the same classes this semester which is nice I suppose. So far the only classes we've been to are Bio and Piano. Math doesn't start until February and our Film Studies class starts tomorrow. very early - 9am. Did you know there was a 9 in the morning? I didn't either. I'm enjoying piano class. We're learning to read music and i'm actually understanding how to read it and then relate it to what i'm playing on the keyboard. It's only been two days! Maybe i'm not Chopin or Beethoven but dammit its still exciting. Skip isn't liking it as much, which I have to say is odd considering he was the one who wanted that class. Thankfully, he's decided to stick with it. Good for him.
While we're on the topic of education I might as well mention what i've been up to the past few hours. Some time ago I decided to further my college career and go to University. I was met with many obstacles and harsh realities. One of which being I fucked around way too much at Valley (Community College). I have only 24 transferrable units completed out of the 60 required. I have 10 transferrable units in progress at the moment. After seeing a counciler I planned out which classes i need to take and discovered that I will (all things going well) graduate from Valley in Spring (May) 2009 with an AA in Liberal Arts. From there I hope to transfer to either CSULB (California State University of Long Beach) or CSULA (California State University of Los Angeles) to major in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I'm leaning more toward CSU Long Beach. Through research I have managed to find several scholarships that I qualify for that require no real effort on my part and I definately hope to utilze those opportunities. I don't want to pay for this shit. So good news ay?
I haven't made any resolutions for this year and I won't either, but I have set myself some goals. Here they are in no particular order.
1. Keep my job until I finish at Valley.
2. Get a new car.
3. Maintain a 3.0 gpa
4. Move up to bartender.
5. Get my tattoo setup
6. Prepare scholarships/funds
These are most of my goals. They're my main goals anyway. Of course I have other less important or short term goals like going to PRIDE or what have you.
As I said in a previous blog, I'm not as optimistic about this year as I was about last year but I do think if I keep my goals in mind it will be a good year. Last year I somehow learned that most of my obstacles are self-made. The moment I got out of my own way and stopped telling myself I couldn't do something or that there was no way to do something, life got a lot better and a hell of a lot easiar. I've found it easiar to live with and accept myself. I'm more sane since I stopped trying to knock down walls long enough to realize there were 8 paths around, 4 doors through, 5 ladders over, and 2 tunnels under the damn wall. Its good. I'm fucking okay.
