This was taken yesterday during a film shoot for a 48hr Eco Film Festival that was on over the weekend in Australia. Was interesting trying to make a whole short film in only 30 hours. time and other things got in the way so we didn't start until 10am yesterday (started 7pm friday). But we got it done. so we'll see what happens. few errors in it but ah well.
so yeah, the picture... thats me using my uni's BlackMagic Camera. The quality of the image is just spectacular. 2.5K at RAW (i was filming in ProRes H.264 due to time. wouldn't mind trying it at RAW). But the biggest issue i found with it is the battery. Because its an inbuilt battery, you cant carry spares and it pretty much only lasted a near hour away from a power source. I also had an issue with over exposure, and was unable to play around with the aperture to help, but i realised today that the way to fix that is with the use of Filters (which i currently don't own)
well enough of me blabbering about technical camera stuff.
in other news, i failed my first unit at uni so i have to repeat that next trimester (6) and won't graduate until Feb 2014 now. ah well. shit happens. But i do start my fifth trimester tomoro with Advanced Editing which covers colour grading. yay.... so thats reason enough to play around with the RAW footage from the BlackMagic.
thats it for now...

Wow. Sweet little handheld rig. I really want to try out the Black Magic as a 2nd camera. Shooting RAW is fucking awesome and absolutely worth the extra effort it takes to post. I've been shooting on RED at 4K since December and I'd never go back to HD.
