Ahhh... back from Michigan.
It all went off without a hitch. Thank goodness. Not that I was really expecting any problems. But my mother tends to get a little out of hand sometimes and my dad has bouts of depression.
Everyone loved my honey. She was forced to meet soooo many people. I mean, you knew it was trouble when the party is for my...

hi there....why would you like to join sg savannah?
I am so flippin' tired. What's up with insomnia?
So, my girl and I are going back to Michigan for a family event. She's never met two of my brothers, two other nieces and a nephew, my brother's father and step mother, my stepfather and all those that come with family reunions. She's a little terrified. Should be fun, though.
Might be the last time...

You had to wear a tie? what's up with that?
I'm going to interupt my regularly scheduled woeful, soul-searching exposition for a lighter entry. Today, I will explore the aery heights of a world oft overlooked in the wanderings of a people married to the earth and ground. We will seek, by means of literary litany and adjectival adventures, the forgotten clouds and other hiding spots of our otherwise ethereal existence. This day will cover...

Now, a question. A thought. A direction? Yes, indeed.
Where am I headed. I find myself wandering down a lane I do not know. A path that seems less and less familiar. I have been presented with this number, this sure breadth of possibilities before. LA, Savannah, NYC, Nashville.... cities. Names of streets and places, addresses for a possible future.
What will I do? What...

Coachella: 2006 - - - it's over
Well, another Coachella has come and went.
Day two, Sunday, was well worth it, even though there were some setbacks and what-have-you.
First, we got a bit of a late start, but surely we had time to see everyone we were interested in, right? Well, we got most of the way there... see, we're staying half an hour...

So, here I am. Got up here on Friday, midday. Staying in Palm Springs in a condo we're renting cheap through a friend. Bizarre place. Where did Palm Springs come from? Who built it? I say either Martians, Germans or the elderly. Maybe a rare union of the three.
Nicole and John and I went to the show today. I'm sorta in a...

I've been doing a favour job for a friend of mine. he and some friends started a motion graphics company, and they're good, really good. Pitchin' on sweet stuff. Problem is, two of the three went out of town. I'm helping on some tests for a job. Jesus, the board I got to...

Uh......
Why (when we actually went to school for this shiznit)
Are we still struggling to figure stuff out????
I think it's why I love vfx/motion graphics so much. We're always having to figure stuff out, therefore, we are constantly getting smarter. Or dumber, depending on if we figure the stuff out or not.
Did you figure out the light trails??

I've told two people so far of my gender concerns. Okay... I'm pretty drunk right now. And I have to work tomorrow? Question mark?
Yes... I think I'm drunk. It's 5:30am. But yeah... first, I told a girl who likes me who... er... was crushing on me? She was too much for me, but very accepting of me in my entirety. My girl knows... but...

I think we should hang out......This going back and forth and shit is gettin annoying. That's just me though.
WTF? Keylight comes with AE 7? See I wouldn't know that because our Admin dude installed it after I asked my boss for it. I put Primatte's demo on it so I can pull a key with that, then pull a key using the crap and try to convince my boss to get me some more toys.
Not to mention, I think she just c/p'd the job description from another video editor job description somewhere's out there in la la land. They wanted me to know Shake and Maya and we don't even have those f-ing programs at CRL. Anywho......

YAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!!
Doggy found her home!
Turns out her name is Princess, very befitting of a black Staffordshire (pit bull), I think. I got an e-mail from her daddy, and he matched her description perfectly. Turns out the neighbors even saw me and my girl rescue her from the street. I was described as "someone with purple hair in a BMW." Well, I guess my girl's...

you said:
Yeah, VF, 8-bit sucks. But if it's off a digi-beta, then it's really 10-bit. Switching AE up to 16-bit mode may help... except sometimes the telecine place, even if it has a DiVinci capable of higher than 8-bit, only has a data-spirit or other film scanner that sends an 8-bit signal. In which case, you're screwed whichever way you key. Of course, if you're using footage from DV or SP or anything 8-bit to begin with, may god have mercy on your soul.
PS. AE 7 is the lamest upgrade. At least it's 32-bit float now, like Shake. But yuck. What keyer are you using? The built in keyers are ass. Primatte 3.0 is the best AE keyer out there, although sometimes Keylight pulls off magic. 8-bit in AE makes you really miss keying Cineons and DPXs in Shake, don't it?
I say:
I tried pulling a key just using a combo of the spill supresser and the in/out mask thingy......I don't think I can convince my boss to get me any plug-ins. I just want my SHAKE
Looks like I'll be gettin good at pulling keys using the Matinee plug-in in FCP HD Pro. UuuGGGGG!!
I was getting mighty frusterated with the built-in keyers in AE though. I had like 4 diff garbage mattes goin on and the greenscreen was lit pretty well and my subject barely fricken moved. I thought that maybe I was just a bit rusty at pulling keys, but alas, I think it's more than that.

Oh, my, goodness. What a two days these two days have been. My girl and I found a stray dog, took her in and have been embarking on that crazy task of trying to find her home. There are so many shelters, vets, rescues and what have you to contact.
This little black pit bull mix was in the middle of the street in the...
